MoS External Affairs V. Muraleedharan to visit Kenya and Eritrea

New Delhi: Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan will embark on a three-day visit to the African nations of Kenya and Eritrea from September 13-15, the External Affairs Ministry said in a statement.

The visit is expected to boost bilateral relations between India and the two countries, he added.

In Kenya, MoS Muraleedharan will attend the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect, Dr. William Samoei Rutu, during his one-day visit to Kenya, an East African country with which India has a close relationship. friendly and historical relationship. Rutu will be sworn in as the country’s fifth president on Tuesday.

“In addition to attending the ceremony, Muraleedharan will also participate in a business event where he is expected to meet with the country’s top business leaders. It should also interact with business leaders doing business with India,” the ministry said.

“MoS Muraleedharan will also interact with Indian community members living in Kenya at a community event,” he said.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during his two-day visit to Eritrea, from September 14, MoS Muraleedharan will visit President Isaias Afwerki. Muraleedharan will also meet with Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh Mohammed on bilateral, regional and international issues of common concern.

MoS Muraleedharan will also interact with the Indian community in Eritrea during the visit. India enjoys warm and cordial relations with Eritrea.

“Since its independence in 1993, India has offered a range of capacity building assistance in various fields to Eritrean youth. A large Indian community lives in Eritrea, mainly professors and teachers and people working for companies,” the ministry said in a statement.

“The visit is likely to give a new impetus to India’s relations with Eritrea,” he added.
