MoS External Affairs V Muraleedharan to Lead Indian Delegation to First International Migration Review Forum

Minister of State for External Affairs, V. Muraleedharan, will lead the Indian delegation for the first International Migration Review Forum to be held under the auspices of the General Assembly at the United Nations in New York from 17-20 this month.

The International Migration Review Forum will serve as the main intergovernmental global platform to discuss and share progress on the implementation of all aspects relating to migration and its intersection with the Sustainable Development Goals. It will consist of four interactive multi-stakeholder roundtables, a policy dialogue and a plenary session. It will lead to the adoption of a progress statement.

Mr. Muraleedharan will deliver a formal statement during the IMRF Plenary Session. In New York, he is expected to meet United Nations General Assembly President Abdulla Shahid and International Organization for Migration Director General Antonio Vitorino.

Mr. Muraleedharan will also participate in a High-Level Ministerial Meeting on Global Food Security – Call to Action and deliver a statement at the UNSC Open Debate on Maintaining International Peace and Security: Conflict and Food Security.

He will also meet with a wide cross-section of the Indian diaspora in New York, Los Angeles and Houston, including those working in community welfare, business, health, culture and education.
