Governor DeSantis Appoints Savannah Kelly Jefferson as Director of External Affairs
Jefferson was previously director of communications at the Florida Hospital Association.
Savannah Kelly Jefferson joined Gov. Ron DeSantisadministration as director of external affairs.
Jefferson took office earlier this month after DeSantis’ former director of external affairs, Mara Gambineri, left the governor’s office to join the environmental protection department.
Prior to joining the DeSantis Administration, Jefferson had been Director of Communications for the Florida Hospital Administration, a hospital advocacy organization, since January. There she served under the President and CEO Marie mayhew, who was DeSantis’ secretary of the Agency for Healthcare Administration until September 2020.
Prior to joining the FHA, Jefferson spent three years with Volunteer Florida, moving from Executive Liaison to Director of External Affairs. She was also previously a consultant at AK Consulting Group.
She received her undergraduate degree in Business Hospitality from Florida State University in 2015.
Gambineri left the governor’s office earlier this month to become deputy secretary for lands and recreation at DEP. Before joining the Governor’s Office in June 2019, she was Director of Communication at the DEP. Prior to that, she was deputy director of communications in the governor’s office under the former governor. Rick scott.
Jefferson oversees the governor’s external affairs office, which manages programming and acts as the governor’s liaison with citizens and public service groups. The office coordinates volunteer and community initiatives in Florida and oversees special assistants to the governor in the state.
The external affairs office also issues proclamations on behalf of the governor.
Jefferson began in his new role on October 11.
