Comerica Bank Appoints Hassan Melhem Head of External Affairs for Southeast Michigan and Head of Business Development for the U.S. Middle East

Melhem’s responsibilities include coordinating community reinvestment activities and external affairs, and he will collaborate with Comerica’s business resource groups, the Director of Diversity Nate Bennettand Chief Community Officer Irvin Ashford, Jr. on building external partnerships with nonprofit organizations in the American Middle East across the bank’s national footprint.

In MichiganMelhem will work alongside the Director of External Affairs Linda Nosegbe in the subway Detroit support and foster philanthropic partnerships, community investment activities and volunteerism, financial education, civic and community relations, and internal and external strategic planning.

Fluent in Arabic and English, Melhem brings over 13 years of experience to Comerica in procurement in the construction industry which has included national and international projects.

Most recently, Melhem led procurement efforts for the US Gordie Howe Bridge project. Prior to this role, he served as a Senior Project Buyer for ACCO Engineered Systems and negotiated commercial and domestic contractual agreements with vendors for Incon Infrastructure Contracting LLC in the Middle East.

Melhem graduated from Beirut Arab University in Lebanon and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration while specializing in banking, corporate, financial and securities law.
